Design Lab is a live coaching and design consulting session where Erica Marx works with a guest on an event, workshop, retreat, or stakeholder process they are designing.
The session is attended by a live audience and recorded. People who attend live also join a backstage conversation before and after the session to reflect on the design choices they observed, ask questions, and apply insights to their own work.

Rolf Parker, director of Public Health Response To Research (PHRR), has spent years working on smoking cessation policy, collecting vapes from schools for testing, and feeding accurate research to state legislators against tobacco industry narratives. CNN is airing a story drawing on his research and interviews. Rolf wanted to use the story as a reason to bring the scientists and advocates behind this work into the same room, so he and Erica designed a watch party built around it.
In this Design Lab, Erica coached Rolf through the core design problem: how to build a session where scientists and advocates could each name what they had to offer this group and what support they needed, without scientists being cast as activists, so real alliances could form.

Attending live puts you in the room as it happens. After the recording ends, the audience joins Erica and the guest directly, to ask questions, share what landed, and go deeper into the design decisions you just watched get made.
