About the Event
Designing a Digital Habits Workshop
Dan Fox is designing a two-hour digital wellness workshop he’ll lead in Brooklyn where participants will work through conversations and interactive exercises, and each will leave with a plan for their relationship with their screens.
The Design Challenge
Next month, about 30 participants, from Gen Z through Gen X, will join him in person for this workshop.
Dan’s goal is for participants to tell him a month later that their screen habits have changed. Plans made in a workshop often fade once participants return to their daily routines. His challenge is how to design the workshop so people follow through on that plan and keep their new habits for at least a month.
What Happens in Design Lab
Design Lab is a live, recorded, facilitated event design coaching session, structured in three parts.
Welcome and orientation
We welcome the people who've joined to be part of the design process, connect them with each other, and clarify the shared purpose of the session.
The coaching conversation
Recorded as a stand-alone Design Lab episode. Erica coaches the guest on the event's purpose, its audience, and what the event needs to deliver.
The backstage conversation
Off the record, once recording stops. Thoughts get shared and conversation ensues.
Who Should Join
You design workshops, trainings, or programs, and you want participants to change what they do afterward. This session may be especially useful if:
You want to know whether a workshop worked, and you’re looking for ways to see a difference a month later
You’re deciding how to frame a session so participants choose change for themselves
You work with participants from different generations who relate to the same topic in different ways
You run a regular gathering and are turning it into a structured workshop
You work on screen use and digital habits, with students, families, staff, or clients
You’re curious how a design consultation works while the choices are still open
